Maddie McGinn CMHC Intnern

My therapeutic framework is rooted in Existential, Strengths-Based and Person-Centered approaches, with a deep commitment to supporting adolescents and youth navigating the complexities of identity and mental health. I place a high importance on the therapeutic relationship, seeking to create a warm, compassionate, holding space where clients feel safe to be their most authentic selves. My practice utilizes evidence-based strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Strength-Based Therapy (SBT) to help clients regulate emotions and process trauma. I use creative modalities, including play, art and movement, to bypass barriers and allow for further processing and expression of grief, anxiety, and identity. This approach is particularly effective in supporting grief processing, as it provides a tangible way to externalize pain and reconstruct meaning after loss. I seek to be collaborative with you as we work together to meet your goals, and I will consistently tailor our approaches and interventions to connect with you personally. If you have any questions, concerns, or additional theoretical input, I invite them into the therapy space with curiosity and respect to create a therapeutic experience that is tailored to your needs. My work focuses on supporting individuals experiencing anxiety and grief and loss, and coping skill development. I sit with the following populations: LGBTQIA, youth, adolescents, families, and young adults seeking counseling.
